“‘I definitely think there are instances where the pharmaceutical industry is being unfairly targeted [for off-label prescriptions],’ said Charles Ross of New York’s Charles Ross & Associates, who has defended several individuals in off-labeling investigations in recent years. ‘On the one hand, doctors are permitted to write prescriptions for off-label medications, but on the other hand there are very restrictive approaches that pharmaceutical companies can take to let doctors know that there are off-label uses that are beneficial,’ Ross said.”
